PHILIPPINES AirAsia, Inc. on Wednesday said it has partnered with PayMaya Philippines, Inc. and Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.’s GCash for cashless transactions at its check-in counters.
The cashless option through PayMaya and GCash is applicable to payments for additional baggage, meals, and other flight add-ons while checking in, the low-cost carrier said in an e-mailed statement.
The airline started offering the cashless option on Feb. 1.
“We continue to innovate our digital solutions to provide our guests with the most convenient and safest way to travel,” Philippines AirAsia Spokesperson Steve F. Dailisan said.
The low-cost airline also said it recently earned a perfect 7-star rating from AirlineRatings.com for its health protocols.
AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Anthony Francis “Tony” Fernandes has said the group might make its food delivery and digital wallet services available to Filipino consumers soon.
On Jan. 14, the group officially introduced to Filipinos its “AirAsia Shop,” as it aims to expand its e-commerce presence in Southeast Asia. — Arjay L. Balinbin
