Top trends for 2021 business attire

Working from home may make you think fantastic, I can lounge around in pyjamas all day. In theory that sounds great but what effect does it have on your productivity? A lot it seems. It is called ‘enclothed cognition’ and it seems that how we dress makes difference in our minds. That old adage “dress for the job you want, not the job you have” is still very true even if you are working from home.

The difference between your mindset when you get up, get washed, put your makeup on and your office attire as opposed to being a slob in pyjamas is huge. You will be much more effective in your role when you do this. It will also give you a nice balance between home work life when you finish for the day and change clothes. It will feel like you have left the office behind you.

There are still those days when you won’t feel like getting out of bed. Remote working is still working but these are the days when this theory will make all the more difference to your mindset. Remote working calls for a more business casual attire as opposed to boardroom chic but you still need to be a consummate professional even if you are working from a corner of your bedroom.

ASOS has a range of in style casual business outfits at affordable prices also thanks to ASOS voucher codes that will leave you wishing you could show them off in the office. Their range of dresses are perfect for the house as they are comfortable and most importantly not sweatpants. They also look good and you don’t have to worry about finding items to match, just throw it over your head and off you go.

A blazer is the must have item of 2021. Just throw it on over a pair of jeans and a tshirt and you are ready to go. It will turn any outfit from casual to business casual in an instant. Check out ASOS’ check blazer to give even the palinest of t-shirts a lift.

A pop of colour will always help raise your morale and in turn, your effectiveness in your role. The River Island pink trim ruffle shirt is just the ticket. This lightweight fabric will be perfect for your home office. Try pairing it with a pair of plain balck cotton trousers and loafers and throw a blazer over it to complete the look. You will be proposing Zoom calls in no time at all just to show off your outfit.

Vero Moda wide leg black trousers are not only on point for this season but they are an all time classic work trouser. Pair them with your favourite work heels, not only because of the length but because wearing your shoes at your home office desk is all about the work mindset. The other benefit of wearing heels at home is that even if they hurt you will never have far to walk.

The Wall Street Journal reports on the new normal which is working from home and dressing for the omnipresent zoom call. They spoke about the report that was done on the actual science behind how you dress and how it affects your work. They studied the link between clothes, brain activity and productivity. They found that when you dress for the office even if you are at home, you work like you are in the office.

Flat shoes have had a come back this year, between ballet flats and loafers the choices are unlimited. Your feet may not be on show but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be wearing beautiful shoes. Spoil yourself and invest in a pair of quality leather shoes. You won’t have to worry about hurting your feet as you are breaking them in as the furthest you will go is from the bedroom to the kitchen or your office.

You can really go wild with your choice of shoe and choose something that you would never wear to the office like a pair of coloured pumps or the Kurt Geiger London Chelsea Eagle Chain mules. Only you will see them so you may as well enjoy what you see. This year when it comes to office footwear there are no rules.
